FAQ's for Cats

 

 

When do I vaccinate my cat?

Kittens should receive 2 vaccinations 1 month apart at about 8 weeks old and 12 weeks old. Yearly booster are recommended for cats getting outside. However we recommend less vaccinations for indoor cats. This should be discussed with the doctor at the annual examination.

When do I spay/neuter my cat?

We recommend doing this at 6 months of age. We also recommend at this time an identification tattoo for cats that will be going outside.

Why is my cat so fat?

This is no laughing matter. Obesity is a major problem in cats these days. A combination of carbohydrate rich diets and a lack of activity in indoor cats encourages weight gain. There are many reasons why obesity occurs and it is better to discuss this directly with the veterinarian.
