FAQ's for Dogs

 

How many vaccinations does my dog really need?

We believe in tailoring vaccine protocols to reflect the age, health and lifestyle of your pet. It has been a long time since we gave every animal every vaccine available every single year. We recommend an annual physical examination and the doctor will discuss what vaccines he feels are necessary(if any).

When do I spay/neuter my dog?

We recommend doing this at 6 months of age.

Does my dog need heartworm control?

We do not recommend heartworm control for dogs living on Vancouver Island. Dogs traveling to the Okanagan during the summer months should receive preventative medication. Clients who are planning to travel elsewhere in North America should contact us about what medications may be necessary.
